About Us!
The Candor Chamber of
Commerce is a not-for-profit corporation organized to
advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Candor, New York
community so that its citizens and business community shall prosper.
The Chamber has held a series of talks with
special speakers this past spring. This series was free and open to
the public. Although the series catered to small businesses, it had
something for everyone. Speakers included Ken Homer of the Small
Business Development Center, SUNY Binghamton. He talked about
developing a business plan, and services that are available to small
businesses. Michael Morse, Tioga County Economic Development Office
spoke on how Tioga County could help with tax breaks and other
economic programs. Other topics included Marketing 'More than just
Advertising' and Financing Options.
Networking Meetings
Another great way to meet
other businesses is through the Networking Meetings that are held I
periodically throughout the year. Members get to visit other
businesses to find out about their history, successes, problems, and
concerns, and at the same time have a change to link and work
together.
Adopt-A-Highway
To show their support in the community, the Candor Chamber takes
part in the Adopt-A-Highway Program. The assigned section is 'The
Loop' around the Village, and several Chamber volunteers have gotten
together to 'clean up' Candor.
Road Signs
Working with the Catatonk Valley woodcarvers, the Chamber is proud of
their 'Welcome to Candor' road signs that are located on Route 96
next to the Catatonk Golf Club, on the Spencer Road next to
Gridleyville Crossing, and on Route 96B next to the parking area
north of Gridleyville Crossing. It's truly a colorful and meaningful
welcome to Candor to those passing through.
